Free bank statement converter: one conversion on us

Every new Signavos account gets one bank statement conversion free. Not a few rows, not a watermark, not a trial that turns into a monthly bill. The whole statement, checked against its own balances, in the format you need.

What "free" means here

Most free bank statement converters give you a few pages a day, or a preview with the rest blurred. That's fine for one page. It's useless for a year of statements. Signavos does it differently:

  • One free conversion per new account. A full statement, not a page cap.
  • Every output format. Excel (XLSX), CSV, OFX and QBO.
  • The same checks as a paid conversion. Every row is checked against the balances printed on the statement.
  • No card required to sign up, and no subscription waiting behind it.

How to get your free conversion

  1. Create a Signavos account with your normal email address.
  2. Open Statements in the dashboard and upload your bank statement PDF.
  3. Check the free preview: the first rows and a balance result for every page.
  4. Convert. Your first conversion that would cost credits is free, and it is applied automatically.
  5. Download Excel, CSV, OFX or QBO.

Accounts registered with disposable or throwaway email addresses don't get the free conversion. Everything else works the same.

How the output is laid out, and why the columns match for every bank, is in how to convert a bank statement PDF to Excel.

Scans, photos and screenshots count too

The free conversion isn't limited to downloaded PDFs. A scanned statement, or photos and screenshots of one (PNG, JPG or WebP, up to 30 pages), are read by OCR on Signavos's own servers, and that conversion can be your free one. OCR rows are labelled Read by OCR so you know which ones to check against the statement.

It is still one free conversion in total: a PDF or a photo upload, whichever you convert first, not one of each.

Who one free conversion is enough for

More people than you would think. A lot of statement conversions are one-offs:

  • A mortgage or loan application that asks for recent transactions in a spreadsheet.
  • A one-time expense claim or a dispute with a merchant, where you need the rows, not the PDF.
  • Trying it before a bigger job. Convert one real statement from your bank, check the balance result, then decide whether to convert the rest of the year.

If one statement is all you need, the free conversion is the whole job. If it is the first of twelve, it shows you exactly what the other eleven will look like before you pay for them.

What to check in any free converter

Free tools differ more in what they leave out than in what they charge. Before you upload a statement anywhere, check:

  • Is the output checked? Rows that are never compared with the printed balances can be wrong without anyone noticing.
  • Is the whole statement converted, or only the first page or a capped number of rows?
  • Which formats are free? Some keep CSV free and charge for Excel, OFX or QBO.
  • How long is the file kept, and who else processes it? A bank statement is one of the most sensitive files you own.
  • What happens after the free part? A free trial that becomes a monthly bill is not a free converter.

Why a free converter still has to be right

A free conversion with one wrong amount is not free. It costs you the evening you spend finding the error, or the tax return you file with it. Wrong numbers in a spreadsheet look exactly like right ones.

That's why the free conversion gets the same balance check as a paid one: opening balance plus every transaction must reach each running balance the bank printed. Rows that don't are marked red, never passed silently. See how to check a bank statement conversion is accurate.

What it costs after the free one

Conversions use credits: one credit per started block of 10 text pages, and one credit per scanned page or photo (read by OCR). A 3-page PDF statement costs one credit; a 14-page one costs two; two phone photos cost two. Credits are bought in packs (prices as of October 2026):

Credit packs (one credit = up to 10 text pages, or one scanned page or photo)
PackCreditsPricePer credit
Starter5$8.99$1.80
Regular40$19.99$0.50
Bulk200$89.99$0.45
  • The preview is always free.
  • Pages that fail the balance check are not charged.
  • Re-downloading a statement you already converted is free.
  • Credits last 12 months and pay for electronic signatures too.

Why there is no subscription

People convert statements in bursts: tax season, a mortgage application, a new client. A monthly plan bills you for the months in between. Pay-per-use bills you for the statements you convert, and nothing else.

If you convert hundreds of pages every month, a subscription elsewhere may work out cheaper. For everyone else, it rarely does. The full comparison is in bank statement converter pricing.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a truly free bank statement converter?
Signavos gives every new account one full conversion free: the whole statement, every format, balance-checked. After that it is pay-per-use credits, with no subscription.
How many free conversions do I get?
One, for new accounts: an account that has already bought credits does not get it. It is used automatically on your first conversion that would otherwise cost credits.
Do I need a credit card to try it?
No. Sign up, upload a statement and check the free preview. You only buy credits when you want more conversions.
Why did I not get the free conversion?
Accounts that sign up with a disposable or throwaway email address are not eligible, and each account gets only one. Paid conversions work normally either way.
Can I convert a photo of a bank statement for free?
Yes, if it is your first conversion. The free one covers a PDF or a photo/screenshot upload, whichever comes first. Photos are read by OCR, so check the labelled rows against the statement.
Are my statements stored?
No longer than 24 hours. Uploaded statements and the files made from them are deleted automatically.
